WATERFALLS  OF MARYLAND

200 Waterfalls in Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania!

MARYLAND:  In a line roughly drawn from Washington, DC to the northeast corner of the state, the soft sand and clay of the Coastal Plain butt up against the hard bedrock of the Piedmont, forming the Fall Line.  Here virtually every stream rushes over rapids and falls, seen most prominently at the Great Falls of the Potomac.  In western Maryland, the southern Allegheny Mountains undulate in steep ridges and valleys, making for some great waterfalls!
