The Kittatinny Ridge
is a continuous mountain extending from the Delaware Water Gap north to
High Point. The bedrock consists of Silurian-age sandstone,
limestone and shale, in places strikingly red in color. The
narrow ridge doesn't
collect much water, and falls coming off the ridge it are generally low
volume. Most of the land is federal and state parkland,
open to the public. The Appalachian Trail follows the summit, and
side trails lead to many of the waterfalls. |
